It’s been a week since I made such an important life change.

Part of me really thought this entire project may be one of those ideas that comes and goes like a passing tide.

I’m glad I was wrong.

*I’m glad that for whatever reason, it came to fruition.*

Frankly, it’s been hard to believe that it’s only been a week.

At first the positive effects seemed huge. My mental clarity was coming back. I wasn’t struggling as much to recall facts and memories.

Then several days later, I was beginning to wonder if the changes were really as drastic as they felt.

I tried my best to fill all the gaps that I’d normally doom scroll with something productive.

At first, I couldn’t recall everything I even had to do.

Laundry that was piled up. Polishing the bathroom sink. Small but necessary tasks that were sitting idle around the house.

Little by little, tasks that I normally postponed for days or even weeks were finally complete.

Things that lurked in the background, making a quiet storm that never really passed.

I asked my husband if he noticed if I seemed more productive, and he immediately said, “Yes, I’ve noticed a big difference in these past few days.”

It gave me hope.

Hope that I could fulfill my role as a mother. Hope that I could be a great wife.

In this life, I certainly don’t want to settle for average.

The more days that passed, the clarity that escaped me for years started returning.

Tasking myself with keeping up the house and cooking meals from scratch suddenly felt so much less daunting. It seemed I could finally keep up with it all.

Psychologically, I feel so much more present. It doesn’t feel like I’m fighting my own brain to maintain a baseline of intelligence.

I feel like I’m finally free from the grasp of doom scrolling. Facing this long lost depression that lurks in the background.

Free from the circus of curated ads, competing with each other for my attention.

Free from the grasp of the algorithm, that breaks me down until I’m empty.

I’ll keep this short today, and share more as the days pass by. But for now, I’m truly grateful for such a profound change.
